Established in 2019, Stalwart, a Baton Rouge-based roofing company, initially specialized in residential work and remodels. However, following Hurricane Laura's devastating impact on Louisiana in 2020, we swiftly pivoted our focus to roofing and restoration, becoming a beacon of hope for communities in need. Today, we continue to excel in these vital areas, providing top-tier roofing solutions.
About the Owner
John C. Gilliland is a Louisiana native with over 30 years of experience in construction. John has held a range of positions in the residential, commercial and industrial construction industry. He takes pride in providing our community with quality construction services. When he isn’t working, John enjoys spending time with his family and practicing jiujitsu.
Baton Rouge is the capital and the second-largest city of Louisiana. The name Baton Rouge is French and means "red stick" which refers to a red cypress post that marked the boundary between two Native American tribes in the 17th century. The city of Baton Rouge has a very rich and diverse history and culture which make it an interesting place to visit or live.
Some facts about Baton Rouge are:
• It is the very site of the only American Revolution battle fought outside of the 13 colonies. In 1779, Spanish forces defeated the British at the Battle of Baton Rouge and gained the Mississippi River
• Baton Rouge is home to the tallest state capitol building in the entire United States. The Louisiana State Capitol is 450 feet high and is 34 stories tall. Built in 1932 during the administration of Governor Huey P. Long, he is buried on its grounds.
• Baton Rouge is a major port city on the Mississippi River, and it can accommodate large ships that can pass through the Panama Canal for trading. The port of Baton Rouge handles imports and exports of a wide variety of commodities, such as petroleum, coal, chemicals, and various agricultural products.
• It is the seat of two well-known universities: Louisiana State University and Southern University. Both institutions of higher education offer academic excellence and cultural diversity to their students and surrounding communities.
